I just got back from Land Rover Allentown, PA. My 2006 LR3 had 18,200 miles on it. All four tires were cupping on the inside of the tread. The made me work for it, but I got LR to pay for three of the tires and I had to pay $288 for one of them. I also had the alignment done for free. I wish LR would just come clean and have an official notice go out to all LR3 owners so they know what to do about the problem. It seems like they are still trying to hide from the truth.

I have been fighting this issue since January (7,500miles) and now have been to my second LR dealer (10,000miles) - No dice - even though the inner bands are gone, both sets totally cupped, they are telling me this is "Normal" and doesn't fall in the TSB guidlines.....I can buy Badyears for $345 each from them and pay $189 for an alignment. They have suggested I must buy two right now as the ones now on the front are so bad....

I have called LRNA and asked them to explain how this could be "even wear". I've had all sorts of cars (Porsche, Audi, MB, BMW) and never had to replace tires (even when i was admittedly rough on them) at 10,000miles... while I love this truck I am done if this is the service I'm getting...or not getting.

My service experience with Fort Lauderdale Land Rover was horrific - went in for oil/rotate/bad cd player in January - only got oil change done, was told i had bought some "bad cd's" that nothing was wrong with unit, they forgot to rotate tires and reset service indicator. Took it back two weeks ago - paid $102 for rotation, left it there for a week and a half waiting for new CD player, picked it up and noticed it had been hit (rear bumper scarred and damaged)....no word back on how they are going to take care of that....tire wear is "normal" in their book too...

after talking wih purchasing dealer i have had it at another dealer for two days...just got the call...

My only positive is the dealer who sold me the truck (West Chester PA) as they say this should be covered, but since I've moved I am SOL.....

Tires cupping .. I had this once on my Jeep XJ.

stock tires (Goodyear) /stock 7" rims - even wear
30x9.50 (Goodyear) /stock 7" rims - cupping
31x10.50 (Goodyear) /stock 7" rims - even wear
31x10.50 (BFGoodrich) /stock 7" rims - even wear

Multiple sets over 167K miles.. alignment and shocks were perfect in all scenarios.

I believe some tires will cup no matter how good things look on paper... just a bad combo (or chemistry). Kinda like when you go on a date.. profiles look good, but you hop in bed there's zero chemistry.

Rovernut, went through the exact same thing with my dealer here in MI and LRNA. It's a real pity all the dealers aren't on the same page with this more than obvious problem we are having. I paid for my own alignment, bought new Michelins- which after 10000 miles have lost only about 1mm of tread. My only revenge is putting the crappy goodyears back on to turrn in the lease. And never buying another Land Rover. The latter will be impossible because I love the truck and can't see driving something else.
