...please don't tell me to RTFM. I already read the FM and I don't recall this mentioned. Also, my dealer didn't point this out to me in the FM and pretty much if I wanted to find it in the FM I would have looked, but decided to troll here for additional information instead of just RingTFM. Thanks.
Does the LR3 come from the factory with any kind of underbody coating or wax sealant? (the stuff they spray inside body panels?)
I know my last non-LR truck did and at that time ('99) it was pretty common that all manufacturers did this for you. Well, my wife just got a new Toyota and while picking it up at the dealership they gave the old underbody coating pitch. According to them, since 2003 manufacturers stopped applying this dipped coating because people didn't want to pay for it, so now its an aftermarket option again. They made a point of alerting us to this fact in the warranty section which stipulates what kind of rust is not covered.
So, since I never heard any such info when I bought the LR3, I just assumed the underbody was coated as well as inside the body panels.
Is there anything aftermarket we should be doing to keep the road salt and beach conditions from rusting things prematurely?
Thanks!
