I am about to do an oil change and although this oil isn't recommended in the manual and does not appear to satisfy the ACEA -C5 specification, I am curious to know if anyone has venture to try it. I reckon that I would try it and change the filter out within 1k miles and change the oil in 3500k to 4500k miles.

Any thoughts?

I am always a bit suspicious when manufacturers go all in on a particular brand such as JLR with Castrol, yes, it is a good brand, but permanent partnerships like the one between Firestone and Ford ended up terribly wrong and with the higher-than-normal failure rate of this motors, it has given me pause. I know many of the issues are crossover pipes related, nevertheless.... There are plenty of independent folks who have tested the Restore& Protect product with "astonishing" results, however, I shall heed the words of the Rover sages and hold off on this for right now. I will run it through my older Jaguar XJ first and do a before and after analysis after 1500 miles. I don't think I have driven that in 2 years.
