Updated : weird electrical problem 2000 Disco
It seems that the air injector pump is coming on after the truck is off(must be a bad sensor etc). Anyone have a sugjestion what might cause this.
Also I have pulled the plug on the pump so it wont continue to **** the battery. Does anyone know what short/long term damage this may cause.(driving with out the punp having hte ablity to run?)
Yesterday the wife came out of work to a dead Disco no power at all. We jumped it and it started right up. While connecting the jumper cables before turning the key on the air injector pump was running like crazy(I have never heard it run while the truck is off before usually when the truck first starts or is running).
After a few minutes with the truck running the pump shuts off as usual and everything seems fine but...
I noticed that every few minutes while driving along there seems to be a dip in the electrical system. The lights dip just for a split second the fan on the heater slows ever so slightly and then as quick as it happens it's gone back to normal.
I took the truck and had the alternator and battery tested they check out fine. With the truck off and the battery under a load(part of the test) the air injection pump came on so all I can figure is it's time for a trip to the dealer to see what electrical gremlins I have lurking.
