Recently I have noticed that my auxiliary fan on my 04 range rover is not working.....I just do not hear it coming on. I read a recent post where I could check it by jumpering the relay and it could possibly be the auxiliary fan switch that is bad, can anyone give me some insight. the 50 amp fuse is good I checked it. The temp for the radiator is under 200 and still the fan does not come on. Also while checking the fuse box in the glove I noticed that the 5 amp fuse for the "Transfer Box Tow"- number 37 is not there; what's it for?

I believe the fan on your truck has the same set up as the Discos and it can come on when the a/c is turned on or when the engine clears 206 or 208 degrees.
You can have either a.c or temp sensor failing , but most common is a failed fan.
Try jumping the fan with a hot wire, if it doesn't start get it replaced ASAP.

fan does work.

I turned on the truck this morning and before I did that I disconnected the male/female plug located on the top right corner of the fan shroud. (looks like a relay connector, and goes to the fan switch located at the bottom radiator hose). Anyhow, I turned on the truck and turned on the A/C and observed the fan working, but it was awkward, it started and quickly slowed, then pushed on then stopped and then kept going.......It is very silent cant even hear it. Anyhow after that it didn't go anymore. So, I'm thinking that it works and power is or can get to it, but maybe the switch is sending a mixed signal because it's failing, hence the studder in the fan and awkward start and stop?

Sounds more like the fans have failed.

okay the fan is working.....

So, here is the deal.....I turned on the range drove it for a while and then I decided to turn the A/C to the max setting and set it all the way high on the fan. I walked out to the front and watched the auxiliary fan go like the wind.....it was blowing! How then, is it that when I first started it the range cold and turned on the A/C it only sputtered and shut off-blows my mind....Boy when you troubleshoot these cars you really do.....Its either that or to the stealer. Anyhow, I'm thinking the switch is having the hard time figuring out what and when to do what its supposed to do...

Can anyone tell me what fuse 37 is about the tow thing in my first post regarding this relay situation.....Thanks to you guys I actually have knowledgeable people that I can count on.

Found out what fuse 37 does....

Fuse 37 tells me to slow down when I'm backing up to hitch up a trailer. Its on the information center line......kinda of cool must do something else too, but I'll figure it out.
