Hey Summer !!! Welcome. My advice would be breaker bar..That was the only way my b-friend and I could get the things off. It took me jumping on the bar and finally they gave. Good Luck. Melissa

Summer,
Don't you let that Texan mislead you. Before you try to remove the old one, you had better get some replacements, than go by a tire store and let them remove them. Make sure they do it slowly so they don't twist a stud.
Good luck,
Mike J.

Recently I got new tires at Costco. Allegedly they torque the lugs, yeah, right...... Anyway, the wheels have been off, I'm hoping it won't be too hard. It's my project tomorrow. let's see, do I have all my supplies: breaker bar, right size lug wrench, liquid refreshments, band aids.....

Summer - never let generic store touch your wheel's nuts. They will (choose from below)
- overtorque
- undertorque
- damage lug nuts and try get away with it
- damage wheel by pushing deep socket against it

Easiest solution - buy socket for 1/2" drive and carry it around when going to those shops and always inspect lug nuts on way out. Wee bit more complex - take wheels off, get them done, then put them on yourself. That way even generic stores can do good job on installation of tyre and balancing, and then you can put wheel on, torquing it properly (i.e to value where its tight but you can still take it off, if needed) :)

Or ask to have them hand torqued.

Well asking working for you, Melissa. I am not blonde, so i have to threaten them physically :) But normally, if i need to do tyre job i prefer to take it off myself and deliver wheel only to shop :)

Costco is supposed to hand torque them......right....... The Costco originally refused to do the tires for me. I complained to the main office, and got an apology from the local manager. When I did take my Disco in, I gave the technician a bribe / tip of a 12pack of Steinlager....
