So, tonight I bravely ignored the reserve light when it turned on with 44 miles of estimated range left and drove my car until the Distance To Empty indicated 13 miles... Didn't want to push my beginner's luck.

I filled up with 18.9 gallons of gas.

I am telling you guys, either my 2013 gas tank is smaller than yours (insert funny joke here) or the fuel level senders inside the tank need some recalibration.

I don't fit in most parking garages, especially when I leave on the Pelican boxes. Right now I have one filled with supplies and the other with end of the world food supplies - hahaha!

oh by the way, I had the sending unit checked by the dealer at around 10k miles, and they found something was loosen.....I original discovered the fuel level was acting funny. It goes up and down, not a lot but noticeable...I really don't want to ran out of fuel on the freeway so I took the truck in....

Funny... I also have Triumph Explorer bike made in UK - it also has measurement issues - when I fill it up with gas it shows half tank for a while, then goes to full tank after a few miles... They need to change the supplier! :)

The same on my 2012. I think this is normal and made on purpose, unless it is major flow for many years now...

Okay, so I had a road trip. Mostly highway, so I was able to do a bit of a test.

I have a 2013 LR4 HSE. With around 1,000 miles.

With a full tank I hit the road, driving for 339 miles on the trip meter before a fill up.

At 327 miles I was at "0 miles to empty" on the display, I continued to drive another 12 miles to the next highway rest stop.

If I do the math, figuring a 22.8 gallon tank, thats about 14.9mpg. The computer indicated 17.8mpg for the trip.

At fillup, I put in 20.6 gallons.

So it looks like I may have had around 22.8-20.6=2.2 gallons left, or another 30 or so miles at around 15mpg.

So, based on my non-scientifict study you might be able to get around 340-350 highway miles on a tank of gas. Even when the computer is indicating that you have "0 miles", you may have 10-20 or more to go before "true-empty".

On my 2013 i am able to fill 19 gal. I get 300 to 320 miles for 19 gals so roughly 15.5 mpg. Not bad for mixed city and freeway use.

Maximum I have put in so far is 48 gallons (180litres) :aetsch:

Love the long range tank!

This gives me about 1400-1500 kms easily. Towing 2.5 tonne brings it down to 1100kms.

Brett.....
