Up to 85k miles and I think my 4th or 5th set of pads and rotors on my 2011 LR4 (have always just changed all pads and rotors when needed, to avoid noises and other potential issues I've been warned about - not a risk-taker with brakes and tires). I typically purchase the full brake kit on Atlantic British (currently $859) and bring to a local shop. It looks like Atlantic British now has an EBC kit for the LR4, which is about $90 more than the OEM kit. Wondering if anyone has good/bad experience with those EBC pads/rotors? Primarily concerned with performance, and not brake dust (although less brake dust would be welcome, if performance was equal to or better than OEM brakes). Link to the kit is below.

I bought the full OEM set (rotors/pads/sensors) because I knew my pads were very worn at ~24k miles or so. Replaced the pads, but I checked the disks and I had only used up about a third of the rotors (about 3 years in). Kept the rotors and sensors for the next change of pads. No issues at all. Brakes work perfectly. That was almost two years ago. It should be another two years before I need new pads since I now put only about 5 miles per year. I'm at under 31.5k miles now.

I could maybe even get a third set of pads out of the rotors, but that's definitely pushing it, IMO, and I'd also risk potentially ruining a good (and expensive) set of OEM pads prematurely.

Had my tires rotated today and took the opportunity to check my brakes.

In October 2016, I put EBC pads and rotors (just the plain, not slotted or drilled) on the front, and just EBC pads on the back. I assume the back has the standard Land Rover rotors. That was about 21,500 miles ago. I live in a city and have a stop/go commute on city streets. Occasional highway trips.

Front pads have a lot of life left.

Rear pads probably need to be changed soon.

The rear pads going first seems par for the course on LR4s.

I see this is an old post, but was helpful to me. So I thought I'd add my two cents. I'm in need of new brakes before long, so I emailed Akebono.

I have a 2013 LR4 HSE, and provided them my VIN
Here's their reply:

Hi Garry:

I have reached out to Tech Support Team with the VIN number you provided. Unfortunately, the front pad for your Land Rover is not yet available.

However, it is set to be released by the end of April or early May. (2019) The pad that you will be needing is the EUR1479A.

Thank you for your inquiry, please let us know if you have any other questions.
