If you're like me looking for a spot for your switches, I found the perfect location on my '11 LR4.

I am going to make a dash extension and cover ti in the same leather as the dashboard.

Nice! I would love to see something like that. I actually bought a 6 panel membrane switch that I wanted to take apart and add it to the dash, but ended up going a different route. Hence, the switches in the ash tray area. I'm sure you'll be able to make that slide panel with the membrane switch.

That looks cool but the space between the mirror and the dash seems so limited already. I have a major blindspot with the mirror + command seating and wouldn't want to further that issue.

Yea the mirror is a pain I don’t need it as the rear window is now blocked.
But I’ve tested it and it doesn’t give me any issues I would have to bend down quite low to get to that height
