Turn off alarm on backup sensors? Bike rack on.

2011 LR4 HSE.
I keep a bike rack on the hitch, so the alarm goes on ever time I have it in reverse.
Any idea how to disable?

Hi Ladric,

I have been wanting to disable my back up alarm for almost 10 years now. For someone who was trained to use mirrors properly it drives me crazy making me question what I am seeing in the mirror. I have asked a number of times at the dealer and they of course say it can not be disabled. I have also searched the interwebs with not much luck. The only possibility I thought of was to somehow trick the truck into thinking it was pulling a trailer. I was hoping Gap or someone would come up with a software solution. The other thing I thought of was to create some sort of device to plug into the trailer harness that would make the truck think there was a trailer attached. This all assumes that the backup beeps are disabled when towing a trailer.

With the iid tool from gap you can disable the parking sensors. At least on the LR3 and assume on the 4 as well. There website says it can be done. It is in the ccf file.

Good question. I usually keep my trailer hitch on... just the hitch, makes the sensor beep every time I put it in reverse, then it calms down. Still, I hear it every day so I begin to disregard it. One day I hit one of those low concrete posts backing up in a gas station. It was beeping, I ignored it. Son of a b....

You probably know you can hit the button to turn it off, but you have to do that each time you want to disable it. I wish it were an easy user menu selection.

I have a 2011 LR4, I don't see a button to turn off the alarm/cameria?

Button is the "P" button that lights up on the dash.

IID tool does allow you to disable it permanently. I did so on mine due to my tire carrier.

Did it not disable the backup camera, as well when you deactivated the sensors with the IIDtool?

That was my experience.

I just tried this again via the IIDTool and, indeed, parking sensors are disabled and camera still works on my 2012.

Something must have changed software wise in the last 4-5 years. I had the shop that installed my tire carrier and bumper disable them, but it took down both the sensors and the camera.

Much appreciated. I always hated that squawking.
