Intriguing...yes...worth it? No. It's 3 major versions behind on Android now. It's a full rip and replace of the factory system that has all of the 4x4i controls. Integrates with the CAN system which I wouldn't want to deal with directly.
This seems better than the units coming out of Sydney for $1000 or more. Android 7.1 wasn't a bad release. I didn't see where it integrates with the 4x4 controls, the screen is the only piece that is replaced, 4x4 controls are on the console. $600 is not a bad deal, when I get some time from my other projects, this will be on the list.. Spring 2020 :)

Feel free to post the experience when you do. I could be convinced to try this but I really loathe being the first one in on something like this that isn't "broken"

Something that’s been bugging me about our LR4 for quite sometime is the fact that all the Bluetooth and cable interface systems have become antiquated....and more importantly they don’t work anymore when trying to connect our iPhones to the vehicle. Typically they just keep cycling and never work.

Has anyone figured out how to correct this?

I know LR updated the interface hardware in the 2012 models allowing Bluetooth streaming audio. (And a few other things I’d imagine). With that said, I’ve toyed with the idea of trying to find a wrecked one and pull the requisite boxes off it and “update”my 2010. But is this even possible? What modules would be required? Does it require any system retuning/reprogramming?

Are there any better ways to remedy this issue? I have heard there is a software patch that supposedly fixes this, but I have never confirmed that fact.

Any advice/input would be great!

I have some great news - I recently bought the Amazon Echo Auto and using this device I am able to say "Alexa Play {insert song or playlist} and it connects to my phone via BT and the Echo Auto plugs into my audio input jack to play the song. So I'm wireless streaming via BlueTooth from phone to Echo Auto, which is mounted on the dash and is hard wired to my 2010 LR4's audio input. (yes the jack at the back of the center console) It works perfectly. Having a 2010 LR4, I don't have BT streaming for music - only for phone, but this enables me to have flawless audio streaming along with all the other Alexa features of an Amazon Echo device. It works really well. And yes, I did need to get an extension cable for the included audio cable as it doesn't reach.

No issues pairing my Iphone to the 2010? I guess I am lucky?

I don’t have any issues pairing my phone as a phone, it’s just the “iPod” interface feature that doesn’t work.

That said, according to my last service guy, there’s a software patch that will update the system to fix that glitch. Full disclosure, my last service guy also talked a lot, but when push came to shove, he was mediocre at best.

I like the Bluetooth interface that’ll plug into the cable, but I’m hesitant to pull the trigger on a full Nav/radio interface system that no one seems to have installed. I’ll have to be convinced that I’ll retain all my stock functionality as well as gain a better radio/radio interface before I’ll be willing to “upgrade.”

I’ll go check with my local stealership and see if they’ve heard of any software updates. I’ll let you all know what they say.

I’ve gotta admit the Bovee is sounding better and better....here’s the million dollar question though;

If I’m connected to the Bovee, can I still use hand free phone calling as well? If so, I think we’ve got a winner! (It’ll sure beat trying to figure out what I’ll need to swap/upgrade/update to get a stock system going). If it doesn’t, that could be a problem. (They just passed the law requiring hands free devices up here in ME...and pretty much every other state in the nation for that matter)

My experience with Apple Car Play or Android Auto is that it's not worth it. Mount your phone and you have the same thing or more and simple BT fixes the audio part. I would not trade vehicles for infotainment purposes until the standards flush out further.

I can't live without Apple Carplay in my D5. I think the bigger screen touch controls are clutch.

Yes, both Handsfree and music streaming work side-by-side. In fact, on your phone you will see it connected to 2 different BT devices.
