Humming sound after vehicle is turned off

Pulled my LR4 in the garage, shut it off, and after I got out I heard a faint humming sound (servo or small motor type sound) coming from the rear of the truck. I’ve never heard this before so I waited until the interior lights went off (thinking it was something that had to do with the suspension or other accessory) and it still didn’t stop. So I got under the right rear fender well area and tried to see if I could figure out where it was coming from and couldn’t see anything. I looked inside too and couldn’t see anything and the sound was significantly less so it must be coming from under the car. It seems like it is up near the top of the suspension chamber area.
I’m thinking it could be a small fan or stuck servo? I did have the heat on in the back before I shut the truck off. I was afraid this might drain my battery so I started the car again, shut off the heat, and turned the truck off and the sound is now gone. Maybe something just needed to be reset? Just wondering what everyone here thought it could be. My fear is I don’t hear it and this may drain my battery.

You are driving an old Rover. Buy lithium start pack and rest easy at night.

It’s a 2013 LR4....it has a fairly new battery in it but a starter pack is definitely a good idea!
Update...Tried to recreate the situation but couldn’t get the humming to stay on again. So I’ll just make sure it is not happening from here on out.

Right rear fender area makes me think fuel pump might have just been keeping pressure up. I’ve never heard that on my 13 but that’s the only thing mechanical I can think of in that area of the LR.

Don't worry about it. It does that. Mind makes little hums and stuff regularly. Maybe it's the DMTL pump flushing out fuel vapors, who knows. The LR is pretty good at monitoring the battery and shutting things down (lights, your DC accessory, the stereo) when the battery voltage gets lower than it would like.

Do you have the heavy duty pack with the rear locking differential? If so, it could be the solenoid that activates the locker. We had a similar humming noise on our old LR3 at shut off that lasted about a minute. Turns out we were able to replace just the solenoid since we caught it early. Was told that a failing locker solenoid will eventually damage the locker.

Same here. I’ve gotten used to the hums, whirs, and hisses. In fact I think it’s kind of cool, like the Rover is a robot or alive and is adjusting on its own. It used to surprise me when I’d be out in the garage piddling around. Now, I just smile. A totally unscientific and completely unhelpful response to the OP, but there it is.

I love that the rover is somewhat automated...people look at it weird all the time when it makes extra noises. One time a co worker came inside and said my car was making a weird noise...yeah it’s a rover, that’s what they do. But this was different that’s why I decided to ask. It may be tied to the suspension? It is a sound like what the air suspension makes when it is adjusting, but it had no reason to be adjusting at the time. Maybe a solenoid got stuck open and then cleaned itself...idk. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thanks for all your help!

Every time I make a run to the beer/wine store to stock up, I hear that sound. It usually happens as I am taking the last few cases of booze out of the cargo area!

Same. I'll definitely get the suspension leveling noise as it readjusts when I unload.
