Guys, currently in a LR4 that I love but time to move on. Came across a 2016 HSE td6, was not looking for this vehicle but here I am, face to face with this beautiful beast - someone tell me to run away or maybe take a closer look. Dark green color, black wheels, 65k miles asking price is $37k - sticker said it went for $110 when new. What say you?

For whatever reason I have seen quite a few of the early RR diesels listed as the cheapest RR's when searching. Not 100% sure why but they do seem like great deals at this point and $37k sure sounds like a great price. Heck I am may have to check one out myself...

Only thing I heard about them is that the Diesel engine needs to be driven, shorter trips build up a lot of deposits. A Range with extra range would be nice.

The worst you can do, is do nothing. Try it, and check how you feel with it. Discos are very difficult to change (I have 2 and looking for another one for the collection)

Tell us when you have take the decission

Thanks ggrupea, I’m still trying to work it. One of those trade in this, sell this on CL, add some cash and roll the chicken bones for a decision.

Never fear buying a Turbo-Diesel LR4 or RR Sport.
The 3.0 liter V6 is a brilliant engine. Even the lower powered TD6 is
more than sufficient. Its torque pulls like a bull in Spring - better than most 5.0 liter V8 gas engines.
Here in Australia the vast majority of D4's are diesels. Lower fuel use - at least 30% & therefore much
greater driving range. We need that as often it's a long way between fuel stops here. I've even installed a
110 liter aux. tank where the spare used to live.
I regularly get +30mpg on road trips & my 2014 D4 is now well over 3.25 tons loaded & fueled, with off-road rubber (KO2's on 18" Compo's). It's very quiet - almost no diesel clatter compared to a Toyota!!
Don't use a diesel for the school runs or short shopping runs - they like cruising, or on bush tracks where
the torque is well-used. They need to blow out the cobwebs - even without a dreaded diesel particulate filter (DPF).
I've always believed that the main reason for the lack of popularity of diesel in the U.S. is that gas has always been quite cheap to buy compared to here, the U.K. or Europe.
