Man what a beautiful truck. And, I see rails, cross bars and an OEM hitch! You did well. I love that color too.

As far as what to do: I think a fluid exchange is a good idea, including oil. It's good that oil changes were at 5k but no idea what oil was used, etc. I'd do the water pump/front crossover/rear crossover at some pt in the near future. A transmission service is also good idea, switching to the 2-piece pan/filter design(WITH THE PROPER GASKET!). Other than that, LCAs are probably in your future also if not already clunking. All of this is now more or less expected routine maintenance for these big boys. Again, congrats. I've never seen a D4 in that color.

I know I'm very late replying to this one, and ultimately I see you ended up getting a different LR4 (which is great!), but in the interest of informing future forum searchers, my answer at the time when you posted these pictures would have been to pass on this one purely due to the rust I see.

Rust on LR4 suspensions is brutal. If you can see rust underneath, there is surely plenty more rust that cannot be seen as well, and that will inevitably cause a cascade of problems on this complex suspension.

Anyway... moving on now. :)

Ive been wanting to write this message for weeks!, I am pleased to share with all of you our NEW 2013 LR4 HSE 5.0 one previous picky owner, 80k miles, perfectly maintained, no rust, oil change done every 5K MILES!, after all my research and all the knowledge learned from this amazing community who i cant thank enough, we found THE one.

I looked nationwide from east to west coast, had a few in mind already negotiated but not convinced, suddenly this Aintree green appeared as a traded in vehicle just 20 mins from home at an Audi dealership, I called the service agency, review all the history and knew this was the one! Aaand closed the deal premarket. Today, the salesman told me, most of the ads came the next day i put it on hold, and this was vehicle that receive the most calls in the last week. That i did knew what i was buying. There was a guy from florida saying he was jumping on a plane for it.lol.

Anyways...Aside from already baselining all the fluids something else you suggest doing? (waterpump replace, crossover pipes, pcv valves, transmission filter/ pan changed?) to start ownership on a clean state?. Timechain seems great shape btw!...

Here i share with you with all the happiness in this world the photos i shot today a few mins after we got it home the LR4.

Glad to officially be part of this community! THANK YOU ALL! cant wait to start sharing more of my project idea i have for this LR4 up here in the PNW!

Wow! You waited it out, did your homework, and it paid off with you finding the ONE. Told you there were "plenty of LR4s in the sea!" Haha. ;)

I'd dare say, you may have even made a few here just a wee bit jealous with your find. :driver:

Love the Green too. A proper English Rover.

Congratulations, @Seabassjfr!

Im in the market for a LR4 -- Let me know if any came in after you pulled the trigger on the one you snagged or any spots you found helpful in your search! Trying hard not to get a dud. Im based in Annapolis MD.
Hi @Robert Kinsler, in your situation, I would start by calling some of the Jaguar/Land Rover dealerships in Texas, California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida, etc (i.e. Non-Rustbelt/NorthEast states) and asking if they have any LR4s that have been traded in recently.

It's not uncommon for long-time customers of a dealership to trade-in their "old" LR4 or RR for a newer model. I've asked our dealership Service Advisor to let us know whenever they get an LR4 or classic Defender 110 trade in, so we can consider for possible purchase.

You might give this tactic a try, give them your info, and then ask them to call you if anything comes in for trade in the next few weeks. Worth a shot.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, we also had a really positive experience with Carvana. They have a 7 Day trial period wherein you can have the vehicle checked out by a dealership/indy, thoroughly look it over, 400 mile test drive, and if anything is or seems wrong, or you just plain don't like it, you can either return it to them straight up or trade for another LR4 that comes up in their inventory.

They also have a very, very good 100 Day/4000 Mile Warranty should you decide to go forward with purchase from them. They genuinely honor it, pretty much no questions asked. Highly recommend them.

Hope this helps some, and good luck with your search!

@SkyTree thank you for those tips! I have 3 rigs im tracking down more info on right now. Two browns, a green and a gunmetal. They all have decent carfax's.

Curious with carvana, what year and miles did you snag?
I know we've all talked about Carfax but be warned, I bought a 2014 4Runner with a clean Carfax AND did a pre-purchase inspection at a Toyota dealer...and then showed it to my roof rack guys and they said "looks like the front quarter panel isn't seated correctly - was this in an accident?" I took it to a body shop and they tore the front end down and found $5K worth of damage that was not reported on the Carfax. This was with AutoNation. I took it back to the GM of the dealership, and gave them back the truck for a full refund. I was not impressed with AutoNation first of all, nor with whatever shady repair shop did the work and didn't report it to CarFax. So it's not gospel. Make sure you do a THOROUGH PPI. Luckily I was within my 5 day return window (luckily I HAD a return window.)
