I have the lower ProClip base and an adjustable mount for an iPhone X(S) for sale if anyone's interested. $25 including postage.

EDIT: In case anyone's interested, I replaced it with the higher mount and attached the new Apple MagSafe mount using double-sided tape.

Which magsafe mount did you use? Is it strong enough to keep it up there on a bumpy road? I’ve been using a pretty strong magnetic mount with a little metal plate inside the case - stays in place quite well, but would be nice to have the charging feature.

I have tried so many over the years to get the minimal look I wanted and found that sometimes the cheapest / most compact is the way to go.

Also - I am big into visual lines of just about anything. And I prefer horizontal for driving / riding way more than vertical for both style and function.

So here is the product. It’s cheap but actually does the job well and holds my XS Max.

SCOSCHE MAGVM2 MagicMount Magnetic Vent Mount for Vehicles https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PMOCI72/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_nOVbGbJC89A8P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

And here are the pics... my black cords died so I have the Apple white ones (can’t stand the contrast, new ones on order).

I will probably upgrade in November to a wireless MagSafe mount / charger when I get the new iphone - hopefully by then the MagSafe mounts are incredible.

I'm the same way about the looks of stuff in my cockpit. And I agree that the simple fixes are often the best. I saw a $10 vent clip magnetic mount at a carwash checkout counter and got it and it's still in service. I'm liking your horizontal look but that cord would drive me nuts. I have a nice coiled Lightning cord in my LR4 that I will look to continue using when a nice Magsafe solution comes out.

You should buy a 90 degree angled lightning cable. They exist.

no idea how you deal with your phone map and built in navigation being oriented opposite of each other. would drive me nuts.

I often use both systems when I'm on a road trip. I set the onboard nav display to the 2- or 4-mile zoom range so I can get a general view of distance/direction/position and leave the granular stuff to the phone's display. Otherwise I rarely use the onboard system.

i do the same. but the fact that his map orientation is opposite each other is difficult to comprehend.

I set all my nav devices to "North Up" because I want to internalize the direction I'm traveling so I can stay oriented if TSHTF and everything stops working. Plus it helps keep my spatial orientation and situational awareness reflexes sharp.
