I received B13C2-86 and B13C2-96, both referring to the windshield misting sensor. From what I understand, this little bugger controls the activation of the a.c. compressor to maintain a set humidity within the cabin.

Step 1. Order part number LR058011 (MY14-16)

Step 2. Locate the humidity sensor cover and remove it by pulling one side away from the windshield, using even pressure. I started with a plastic pry tool, but ended up just using my fingers.

Step 3. Unclip the sensor from its windshield mount. Pull up on the lower edge of the clip and slide the sensor down towards the dash.

Step 4. Remove the purple connector. It was in pretty tight. I used a small jeweller's screwdriver and broke the sensors retention tab.

Step 5. Install the connector into the new sensor, ensuring it is fully seated and reverse the steps for a complete installation.

The humidity sensor cover clips back onto its windshield mount with a firm push.

So that’s what that thing is. I thought it was some crappy mod from the previous owner.

Nicely done mr, you solved that mystery for me.

On a related note, I used this as a power source pick-off point for my dash cam.

I don't have this humidity thing. But I use the domelights to power my dashcam, pursuant to a great writeup umberto did on this forum.

Found this helpful post when my 2016 L405 AB threw up a B13C2-49 (2F) fault.

However, I cannot seem to get the cowl to budge! Ive tried getting my fingers under the sides and pulling, and even squeezed my finger between the cowl and headlining but can't seem to get the blighter to budge.

Any tips before I manage to turn a simple job in to a big problem.

Cheers

Try prying on the right side only. If I remember right, the cover has just enough give to unclip from one side, and then the whole thing slides off. If you try pulling both sides at the same time, or from the top / bottom, the clips will not disengage.
