So the nav system crapped out on my 2013 LR4. While I saw a few threads suggesting that it simply needed to be reset, the dealership told me that there were a number of faults and that the audio head would need to be replaced for a cost of $4,000. I spoke to a shop that specializes in Land Rovers and Jaguars who claimed that because of how the fiber optics work, there was no after market option that would work in a 2013. The rest of the audio system works great: phone, CD, radio, bluetooth music, etc.
Has anyone run across a solution besides a junkyard replacement, $4000 factory replacement, or $12 vent clip to hold an iPhone? Optimally I'd prefer something that worked with Apple Carplay. Losing the navigation system isn't that big a deal, just an inconvenience. But if the phone and radio go, it'll make for an unpleasant daily ride.
Thanks!

So, when you press Nav nothing happens? The CarPlay units literally just replace that.. you unplug the nav system and plug this CarPlay thing in. I have one in my 2013.

What is this "carplay plug in" you are describing? I would love to have that if it works on the 2012

I bought a Meta 9405B kit for my 2013. This changes the look of the dash with the clock being moved up to replace the old head unit. I bought mine from Albert Zandi <[email protected]> at Buyrite18 Inc., 2232 McDonald Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11223, very helpful. Kit costs around $500 and includes conversion for the aerial. You have to buy your own head unit and the choice is large as you are no longer restricted to a small unit. The only problem now is choice is restricted due to supply chain problems. I ended up with a JVC KW-M650BT which gives me Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, Sirius XM, Waze etc. At last, goodbye to Land Rovers cr*p navigation system.

If NAV is the only thing you are missing, I would not fix it at $4K. I am the only one in the family that likes the Rover NAV, everyone else just uses their phones.
If you are like me and just want it working "because", then that's a different matter, but my personal limit would be about $500.
