I noticed lately that the 2011 LR4 feels like it has micro surges, or micro stumbles maybe, when driving at city road speeds. Then I noticed the dome light was pulsing when it was fading out after the doors where closed after we where in the vehicle with it running. The head lights also seem to pulse at times when driving along. We've had a handful of issues when we start it up where it goes into Reduced Performance mode and gives Traction Control and Gearbox errors. Turning it off and on again typically takes care of the issues.
The battery is dated 2023, but I'll be testing it tomorrow and the alternator is only a few months old. Any thing else obvious to check?

Where'd this alternator come from. I had a new chinesium napa one that was broken right out the box. Sounds similar to yours. Only use the denso ones.
i'll take a look. had my indy shop put it in while chasing down self-inflicted oil leaks.

Mine showed the correct voltage range most of the time. But would strobe headlights and even spike to 15+v. Is your passenger( is right side) valve cover leaking onto the alternator?

no oil leaks currently. the oil filter housing did leak onto the original alternator and eventually killed it. i had a new alternator installed a few months back. i'm wondering if it is bad but unsure how to test it other than what i did this morning.

The bad one I got was not regulating correctly. You could visually see the regulator was 1/2 the denso size. Had to peer into the plastic just to see it. Talk to your mechanic, work should be warrantied if only a few months. Ask if you can supply the alternator and get a denso one.
