Has anybody swapped out their catalytic converters?

I need to swap out the driver side cat, but I was wondering if it's possible to just unbolt the two bolts to the manifold and clamp to the middle muffler, and then wiggle the cat out.
I'm trying to avoid having to drop the entire exhaust system just to take it apart.

It seems pretty tight down there, I'm struggling with getting at the clamp bolt by the rear o2 sensor.

Thanks!

I had mine swapped out at the dealer... you should have heard the language not suitable for ladies or children.

I need to do the same, but haven’t started yet because I have double “too rich at idle” P-codes I’m struggling to figure out first so I don’t toast brand new cats‍ ;)
Hopefully you’ll report back by the time I’m ready!!

You could try running a can of Cataclean through the fuel and see if it helps.

It has been a bit since I've done this. I cut one of O2 sensor wire hangers back. Removed the transmission cross member. Removed the passenger side cat. Removed driver's side cat.

I did this on my back in the driveway.

O2 sensors are covered by warranty for 11 years. See my post on this.

It's not that bad of a job if I remember correctly.

Just unbolt the 2 bolts from the exhaust manifold to the cat, move it aside to unplug the O2 sensor behind the aluminum heat shield (10mm or T30 hex, don't remember), loosen the clamp (don't remove), and just use a ratchet strap to pull the exhaust pipes back towards the rear. The cat will just pop out from the LH driver's side. The RH passenger side is a bit easier.

Hope that helps...
