Hmmm....is that the compressor itself or an air tank?
Yeah the RS sliders are something on my list. I think I'd go Rasta for the under-bumper just because I already have the Rasta skids the rest of the way AFT. I also have running boards...they are re-enforced. They are not sliders by any means, but they might protect that compressor or tank a little bit. It seemed to me that the tank was tucked up inside the rocker panel and/or frame rail pretty good.
...and that gas tank has some protection, doesn't it? I know it isn't a legit skid plate, but really; it seems like you'd have to bang it pretty good.
Did your several friends replace their fuel tanks or their air tanks?
As umberto said (go SCLR) the RS sliders completely cover the compressor and the air tank. They cover from the under sill all the way to the frame beam.
The Rasta skids are good, if that is what you have you are doing well. But the OP asked which is better and the Mantec covers more and is thicker. It goes all the way back to the stock under engine plate so no real need for the Rasta one since they cover almost all the same area just in 2 different configurations. But adding the Rasta T-Case guard is good to go with the Mantec plate.
My friends replaced the fuel tanks at about $1500 a pop.
Yes the fuel tank does have some plating but it is thin. The common occurrence is denting which results in a loss of capacity.
Not the end of the world but one fellow would run out of gas just as the low gas light came on.
The others were outright fuel leaks.
