Hello everybody! I've become a faithful reader of this forum and have really learned a lot! Thank you! Had the dealer replace the warped windshield cowling on the 2016 LR4 before I bought it two months ago fearing water intrusion. So, some heavy storms later and all is well. Then, one day came a light shower and water come into the vehicle through the cabin air filter area? Floor mats, carpet, and filter are wet! What the heck? Cowling looks fine but there were a few millimeters of separation from the windshield just along the air intake so I used electrical tape and sealed the passenger side to the glass. Have gone through 17 inches of rain since during two weeks of severe weather, and not a drop of water inside???

Then I'm driving to lunch and my driver's side A-pillar trim went flying away. Went to the dealer and they popped on a new piece under warranty. They had no comment about my water intrusion experience. Just ignored me as if I hadn't said anything. Oh well, all's ok so far (at least since the brake switch fiasco)! But I'm on edge every time I go somewhere thinking "wonder what the hell is next"!

You shouldn't have to use electrical tape on the exterior of your LR4 to correct that water ingress. Are you sure it's not from a clogged sunroof drain? It is also reasonable to suspect it's from the new cowling and therefore you are within your rights to keep insisting on the dealer to keep on this until it is addressed.

I'm in the flying A-pillar trim club, too. Happened on my first road trip in my new-to-me 3-yr old LR4 (2011 model). Mine didn't actually fly off but it came away enough that the 75 mph slipstream it was in made it rattle and flap around in a frightening manner. Embarrassing too! This seems to be a common thing when a vehicle has had a windshield replacement and a clip on that trim has been broken and not replaced.

Try to enjoy the good days with your Rover. They can be finicky but in the long run you should get more upsides than downsides from owning and driving one.

I don't think the water came from a sunroof drain because the pollen filter was wet and there were water droplets at the bottom of the filter door behind the glovebox. It had to be the air intake? I will give the dealer another chance to address the water intrusion when I have time. It's a mystery to me since the old and totally warped cowling had not leaked while the Rover sat at the dealership through several rainstorms????

This should be the core point of your argument. You might also share your righteous indignation over the way they didn't even acknowledge your complaint the first time. That's unprofessional and disrespectful and an example of very poor customer service. Let em have it.

I've been in denial for over 5 years and Monday I tore out the passenger side carpet to find the leak. It's coming from the AC and flowing down the floorboard. I'm so fed up with this problem that I drilled (4) 5/8" holes where the water pooled, put a piece of metal sheet over the floorboard and drove around for 2 days. Fixed the stupid problem. Now on to the next ones. Maybe I'll have someone pull the body off the chassis and put it on a Toyota. LOL

After hand washing my LR there has been some water on the passenger floor board. It drips from under the glove box. I checked the sunroof drains with some **** eater string but they feel open and clear. I may pull the side intake vents and throw an eye at the drain behind. Any other ideas other than pulling all the trim and glove box out? I have noticed my windscreen cowling is warped and looking pretty faded.

....I think you just answered your own question.

New cowling; while doing that create a baffle for the pollen filter box. Check under your A-Pillar trim, too.

I made a little 'roof' over my pollen filter box on my LR3, never had a water problem again. Easiest fix ever. I keep meaning to make one for my LR4 but knowing me I probably won't until there's a leak.
