Just drove one, considering this as a potential replacement for the LR4. Very different from the LR4, has some pluses and minuses.

Just curious, for those of you in colder climates, how it is in terms of time until warm air is coming out of the vents ? My exposure to diesels is limited to a rider truck or two many years ago.

Any major reliability issues to watch out for with these?

I often wonder if I should have purchased the diesel engine. My SCV6 has been flawless and the truck has been good for 2 yrs +.

I recently bought a 2017 D5 HSE LUX TD6 .... it had 48K. It a good reliable diesel engine, my researched showed it has been used for more than 10 years, its made by Ford UK. Ford started putting it in the F150 in 2018 I believe. I've been cross referencing the forums for info.

Just be aware constant short trips in the new diesels are not very good because of the DEF system. On a regular basis it needs to be driven on the highway to get a proper regen.

All in all, I love it.

I have been watching the price fall on these trucks and thinking about them as an LR4 Replacement. I really like the reported mpg’s but haven’t been able to find much info on how reliable the engine is.

Are these able to go 200k miles with basic maintenance? I love the 5.0 in my LR4 but it has a rear main seal leak and I live with the threat of a timing chain repair

I'm sure they will go more than 200K I don't agree with LR's 16K oil change, I do mine at 10K. I also do my VW diesel the same, I got 490K out of it, and on my second one now at 120K

You'll love the D5, just make sure you get the HSE LUX, so you'll have the locking rear diff. I had LR3, which I loved too!
