Whenever I get emission testing done they plug their scanner into the running car, they definitely don't turn it off, plug in, then turn on. Cursory web search indicates that hot plugging is supported by design.

So did a bit more digging today. The car recognizes the module and can read it. The module itself still shows 0 codes stored. I cleared the BCM codes and nothing has come back. It will still only start when the key is under the steering wheel. When I ask it how many valid keys it says 2 valid keys programmed but 0 valid keys detected. On IID tool it shows 14+ volts to the module, I plan on visually inspecting it later.

Does anyone know where it is located? Some say it’s on the right Quarter Panel and others say the left. Does anyone know which one it actually is? Also if anyone has any more suggestions on what to test or what to do please let me know.
