I’ve done the wall at Poughkeepsie, and while possible without the rear locking diff, it would not be possible without low range and Rock Crawl TR. Those without the locker had a harder time than I did with it. Hope that helps.
I stand corrected on the wet conditions. I'm in AZ so usually on dry stuff or fording streams, both of which feel better on a wider footprint. Thanks for the clarification on section vs tread width. Looks like it can vary significantly from brand to brand. Good to know.
:driver:
The first number in a tire size is the tread width, so the two 265's would have exactly the same tread width. The second number is the ratio of the width to the sidewall, so the 265/65 would have more sidewall (and a larger overall diameter) than the 265/60.
I've had the 285/60/18's before in...
Thanks Umberto! I have the Johnson Rods already, and will check out this deal on the wheels. Wish I could have met up with you in Sedona. Let me know the next time. I've got the LR4 now. It would be fun to wheel with you again sometime. Take care.

HD is much harder to find than Lux. Finding both together is especially hard, but it can be done. I bought a dealer car with 4k miles from Denver that had both, which is what I was holding out for. Glad I did. I also wanted a 2013 so I could have the last of the V8's. No regrets whatsoever...
Wow, this is really amazing!

285/60/18's are as big as you can go without modifying the ride height. I ran both the Nitto Terra G's and the Cooper Zeon LTZ's people have mentioned below. They are both great and look nearly identical. I found the Coopers a little softer and stickier on road, so stayed with those after the...
Thought I would try again. Still available!

No, that was Red Cone Peak. The reason for the backup is that we were waiting to descend the steepest part down the other side. Piece of cake for our Hill Descent Control though...
Yes. We did a "Great Divide" trip with Off Roving 3 years in a row. Mid-late August. Beautiful time of year to go. Here's a group shot, so you get an idea of the group and vehicles. Mostly modern era Rovers, and some older ones.
Land Rover is currentlly testing this. I love this idea and would love to see it in real life. :driver:

Thanks for looking!
True. All stock. 31.5" max on the tires. 285/60/18's. Cooper sponsored our first Great Divide trip and gave us all a new set of 5 Zeon LTZ's. I've been a fan ever since. Had the Nitto Terra Grapplers before as well. Both great options, and good balance of off road ability and on road quietness...
Don't think I've seen it yet on this thread, so I'll add it. I've had a Brownchurch for a few years on the LR3, and will continue to use it on the LR4 when it arrives. It uses the same attachments to the rails as the Expedition Rack, but it is much lower profile and only covers the shorter rails...
