Our 2000 Discovery II started overheating last year. I pressure pumped all antifreeze lines, nada. Replaced the thermostat. Drove fine for about 3 weeks the overheated. I just parked it. About 4 or 5 months later my son started it up and let it run...1/2 hr later, no overheating. After a few times of doing this, we took it up the mountain to get some boulders for me to build a fountain. Ran fine, on the way home it went red again. WTH? My other son took it to the dump, was fine, then BAM..Wouldn't run right. I went and got it later, was running HORRID, no compression on several cylinders, drove it home and parked it. Only time I ever blew a head gasket, I was on the freeway and saw a white puff of smoke, lost all compression, it rained antifreeze and wouldn’t start again, till I fixed it. This still starts, would run if I allowed it to, crappy…Compression test on left side was between 90-100. Left front, (#1?) was 42. No. 3 had 0 compression. This was done by taking the plug out, putting the gauge in and cranking 3-5 times. My older son drove up and said all the plugs had to be out to test it. Is that true? I don’t have a lot of money, but need it running. Should I replace the head gasket and have the heads machined? How to I tell if the valves, rings, and pistons are ok?

00 land rover compression.

Ok so the compression results are,
cylinder 1.120 3. 0 5. 120 7. 100-110

2. 90 4. 110 6. 115 8.110

alright so now im wondering what i need to do to fix it and get it back on the road for as cheap as possible, so if you have any ideas that would really help. Also our rear sunroof isnt working any tips????

Thanks. Unfortunately, I cannot afford what this is going to take in one paycheck, let alone a rover guy here.

Did you get the pics and wet test results?

I sent you a reply to your PM.

What's PM?

Did you see the pictures? I posted on your other Landrover forum too. Scared. Snow is gonna fly soon, then I will be screwed, no garage to work in. Did I take pics of everything? What's the scratch on cylinder 3? Is that why 0 compression? Did the valve/ piston mess up there?
HELP Mike, PLEASE!

TYVM!!
