'02 Freelander Tappet noise...

My wife's just started making the same noise and star shaking the whole car. Eventually goes away but every morning does it bad gas maybe? Or bad intake manifold please help

I eventually fixed the problem... When I replaced the timing belts I found that the plastic breather pipes were old and broken. Once I replaced these (search for them online - I found them much cheaper than at the dealership) the horrible noise went away. I think the broken breather must have caused a drop in oil pressure to the tappet lifters.
