verrry interesting.. what else is different? upside to the truck you have and why/where you picked it up from?
and i'm sure you've posted somewhere about this stuff, so if you want to gimmie a link i can take it from there...
yeah, multiple times but hard to find the thread(s)
My truck was a 2004.5MY pre-production model brought in with 26 others (27 total) with various combination's of trim and features/options. LRNA used these as mules to determine what features to make available to USA market. Mine is a Base model, lower than HSE, lower than SE, lower than S. Unlike UK Base models, mine has vinyl (opposed to cloth) seats, all black cargo area (instead of tan carpet to match seats). Mine has a glass roof and oddly, the Cold Weather package. Electronically, I have all the same stuff, but its not integrated with a TR system. I don't have air suspension either.
Pro's: Very little to go wrong. Very little ECU integration. Very durable interior, no 30mph speed limit in Off Road mode. Fantastic in the dunes.
Cons: Aftermarket springs give me a much stiffer ride and limited articulation. No TR means less sensitive traction control, more driver skill required. Stereo is not nearly as nice as the SE or HSE spec.
After trim/feature testing, my truck was given to the Premier Automotive Groups' Special Projects Director (PAG was LRNA's parent company under Ford), who used it to test alternate paint colors, schemes, and tire combos.
I bought it new with about 4k miles on it after LRNA was done with it.
