Hey all, what do you think the current pricing should be for a certified 06 SE or HSE with most of the options?

Say HID, Cold and Lux. 7 seater v8. Around 30-35k miles.

Hmm even though I have read in different boards to look for 20-22k, I find that the dealers to be in the 27-28k range.

Thats a pretty large discrepancy.

Any hints or ideas?

How about this - buy non-certified, then buy a good exclusive extended warranty.

I'm assuming that CPO in the US is similar to Canada, which gives you an extra year and ~12k miles of warranty. Given that exclusive extended warranties seem to run most people $3k-$4k and provide significantly longer warranty coverage, you should be able to split the difference (~$25k??) and wind up with significantly better overall coverage...

After getting burned with a warranty company that went out of business, taking a few thousand dollars with them, I would rather not go that route.

The CPO'd 06s in my area range anywhere from 25k-29k depending on mileage, condition etc. The used car market is hot right now, so prices on the LR3s have gone up slighly from where they were just a few months ago. The CPO warranty covers six years/75k from date of sale. If you find a nice 06 HSE CPO'd low mileage great condition, for 26-28k I wouldn't say it's overpriced, at least not here in Colorado. Do check the tires on any vehicle you test drive or are interested in, and make sure they aren't showing any uneven wear patterns. Good Luck!

What do you think about an SE in that range? I would think an SE with 30k should be 24k in near perfect condition with new tires or at least with plenty of tread, but hard to say.

um, cars.com lists dealers' inventories and asking prices sorted even by zip code, hardly difficult to figure CPO retail costs even with negotiation fudge factor built in. The real question is what's the wholesale value for that car so you figure the margin and work that down. Good luck.

True, but the prices seem to be dramatically higher than they have been. A few thousand in fact, so the question remains, are they driving the price up "because they say so" and still selling at low rates or are they actually that high?

Said before, used car market is only thing going. Auction prices up 10-15% on LR3 since nadir last October for same 2006 cars - and it's almost 1/2 year later.

Thanks Scot!

I finally get to get rid of the

I've been lurking for a while and looking for exactly what you are looking for it appears. The prices were in the low $20k's a month or so ago and now they are in the upper $20k's, just like you mentioned. Like the others said, it seems the used market is doing better than the new market, which is bad for us used buyers. :( I like to buy vehicles that are about 3 years old and have under $30k miles. With low miles they were likely treated well and after the first 3 years many vehicles have lost more than 50% of their value. But they are likely to only lose an additional 10-15% in the next 3 years. I'll shut up now so that more people don't find out about our little 'secret'. ;)

I hope your not looking for a Black, Blue or Gray HSE with Black interior in the Boston area! If you are, then we will become mortal enemies! ;)
