My powerstroke had similar issues so I wouldn't say it's the solution, the problem is when the overdrive kicked in it caused the torque converter to slip as the diesel had so much torque but the tranny was thinking it was fine to go into overdrive. That was a $5000 repair.. I limped along with it for another 30,000 miles and made it someone else's problem (I told them of the issue).

No reset is needed for an oil change. Even with new pan and filter.

It's only if you are changing the solenoids. Resetting the adaptation allows the computer to relearn the pressures for each solenoid.

It's better to reset the gearbox adaptive memory.....................
