interesting tidbit for those with larger tires, I went to install my hitch to pull my trailer and it would not fit with the full sized spare in place. I had to remove my spare to insert the hitch receiver.... That rear bumper with tire mount is getting higher on my priority list!!!

That is odd, I was able to fit my 265/65R18 in the spare spot and my hitch goes in and out just fine.

hmm, MbW. My tire is a 285/60. I wonder if its the angle installed. I didnt crank it up as far as BRandon for fear of it getting stuck. It came out nice and easy when i dropped it.

Lol, yeah mine was a nightmare to get back out. Not making that mistake again. Oh well, guess I need a roof rack (and a new place to live since my community garage is barely tall enough for my LR4 on Johnson Rods).

Just a few more shots after I had the nicks on the wheels repaired:

Hi everyone,

Finally my compomotive wheels with 265/65R18 BFG TA KO are on my LR4.

I went with anthracite grey PD1880 for nara bronze LR4.

LR4 is my wife's daily driver and she was not a big fan of new wheels. My plan was to put the wheels on when off roading so I needed a good floor jack, torque wrench etc.

No need for TPMS under these circumstances.

I bought Norco 3.5 ton SUV floor jack and tekton 22mm deep socket adapter.

The floor jack is probably an overkill but I like it. Heavy duty and very high quality. Max lift is almost 22" so no problems lifting LR4. Thank you Umbertob for advising on a floor jack specifications and deep socket adapter.

I went with CDI torque wrench which was recommended by Quijote. It is a great , high quality tool. Thank you.

I exchanged lots of *** with Finlayforprez when deciding on tire selection, Thanks David for being patient with me.

BTW what tire pressure are you running now.

So, I got all the tools necessary to lift the car and swap the wheels and the best part is....it looks like my wife likes the new wheels / tires set up.

I fit the spare under the car for now ( street driving). For off roading I am going move the spare into the cargo area.

I had to remove heat shield , deflate spare to about 9 PSI and then was able to fit it under the car.

Someone was saying that after fitting a spare there was a problem with a hitch. No problems with a hitch in my case.

I have Tactical Rovers Rock sliders installed and with new tires you can feel that weight to some degree. Not a big problem for our V8. I would like to see how 2014 LR4 with SC V6 and some extra underbody protection , roof rack, bigger tires will perform in daily driving and off road. Probably not very well.

Back to new wheels and tires.

There is very little clearance between calipers and the rims in the front. With some balancing weight even less.

I tried all modes access, normal, off road with wheels locked to the right and left and noticed no rubbing so far when turning. I understand that there will be some rubbing with rear wheel at maximum compression of suspension.

So far I did not notice any increase in road noise comparing to stock contis.

I really love the new look of the car.
I will be in Sedona ( Broken Arrow) in November and will see how the new tires / wheels perform.

Enjoy the pictures.

Hey TLB,

The wheels/tires look AWESOME - such a great choice on your Nara Bronze LR4. Thank you for the great write up and information - this is very helpful. I also appreciate your time and patience as we explored this option and shared research. In the end, I think we made an excellent choice and the results look great and hopefully will be quite capable off road.

Right now I am running 42 front / 44 rear and it seems to work quite well. Just as HikeNBike recommended, two different tire places recommend I go between 42-46 for sure - depending on how long I will be driving and the terrain. I will air up slightly more for a long-distance highway trip (44/46 maybe?). I am keeping track of mileage and plan to do the rotations as appropriate. I haven't really put a lot of miles on my truck since I bike during the week, but so far the tires are great on the road and I haven't experienced any rubbing.

I am hoping to try mine off road the first weekend in November, but can't wait to hear more about your trek to Sedona. You will definitely need to post photos and give a review! :)

Talk with you soon!

-David

Looks sweet and this really makes my offroad tire selection challenging. Go spacers and 18" rims to get a 33 or stay stockish with compos and stick to 31".

Decisions, decisions....

Spacer and 18s plus lift to go 33 isn't it? Compos are 18s.
I believe Adi did this on his truck. Compos and 33 with 3cm lift.
