2003 Front Driveshaft (Prop Shaft)

does anyone know what is the life expectancy for a front drive shaft on a 2003 disco?
just curious? oem part

20k - 80k depending on how you drive and if you drink Coffee.... Just Kidding about the coffee.

It really depends on way too many factors, but the consensus is rebuilt it before it takes out your Transmission.

If you haven't yet replaced/rebuilt it you are going to be buying a new tranny and front shaft when it fails and they don't always send up a little red flag saying the are about to die.
Replace it "TODAY" or plan on a huge expenses when it fails.
How mechanical are you?
By the way, my first one failed at around 27,000 miles, luckily I caught it before it punched a hole in my tranny.

so far no problems with my front shaft. i was just curious since i was reading some of the other threads here so i was curious.

mike, when you replaced your front shaft did you used oem land rover stock new front shaft, rebuilt or proline ?

If you replace it with OEM figure on doing it every 40-80k miles since they are just like the one you have, which can't be greased at the failure prone area.
Have yours rebuilt or buy one from Great Basin Rovers or from Tom Woods.

Or maybe you can have a mechanic friend show you how to rebuild it yourself, if you buy the beer.
