2004 Disco AC Fan Question

Bought this 2004 Disco with a broken AC fan (the one in front of the radiator). Bought a used entire assembly and replaced the broken one and plugged in works great and smooth. My question is the following: The fan turns on and runs as soon as I start the car. Is this normal? My other Land Rover's AC Fan came on only after the AC (or engine) had been running for awahile (IE: after the car warmed up)

Is it normal for it to run the entire time the AC is on from start to finish or should it only come on when necessary due to temperature, stop and go traffic, etc.?

If the A/C is on the fan will be on... turn off the A/C and see if the fan shuts off or does not start on starting the engine.

The fan is designed to be run by the ECU which will turn the fan on at 212 degrees or after the a/c hits max head pressure a couple of times.
I have heard a few people say there's stays on, when the engine is really hot, for a few minutes after turning off the engine.

Joey, I look forward to you building your arsenal of products for your start up. Yes, with the AC off the fan does NOT come on when starting the engine (IE: only when the AC is on)

Do you have any service engine light on, was the replacement fan a straight plug and play or did you have to rewire it?

Hi Mike, fan was a straight "plug and play" (easy swap). Yes, my check engine light is on also (which I erase with an OBD2 scanner) but it comes back on about every 48 hours after I erase it while driving. Guy whom sold it to me stated it was one of the oxygen sensors making the light come on but my scanner cannot read Land Rover codes, only can delete the light from being on and I haven't had time to take to a garage to read.

Car runs great otherwise and only thing that went bad was the water pump and belt I had replaced the other day.

First, never erase a code till you have fixed the problem and what was the fault code number?

That's just it. When it (my particular scanner) asks if you want the codes the next screen is "choose make of the vehicle" and Land Rover is not in the list. I chose "other" but it states cannot read/give the fault codes for this vehicle.

All it states is that there are 2 definate fault codes and 1 pending fault code.

Other thing is, after replacing front of radiator AC fan (and it works perfect) it doesn't make my AC any cooler nor the engine run any cooler (IE: temp needle "always" stays a mm below half way point)

Also, when I have my AC fan on HIGH it blows OK but certainly isn't forming a wind tunnel in the cockpit. Is there any tricks to get it to blow any harder so I can actually feel it substantially? Temp coming out never gets freezing (I'm in Florida heat) but it's not bad for a 2004 Disco.

check the R124a level in the system (need a tester for this) Temp will always show half way unless something is wrong.

Also Autozone or Advance auto or Napa will normally tell you your codes for free.

Joey, that is supposed to be 134A.

Mike use another gauge, get the fault code numbers and get back to us.
