My wife bought a 2005 LR3 HSE and I am doing the oil change. I have seven QT of oil in it now and the dip stick still shows a QT low. Is this for real 8 Qt oil capacity on a gas motor. Thanks

LOL, good to know if we happen to locate one we want. However, still doesn't hold a candle to the 15qts my truck takes!

At least you can still change your own oil... Try that trick on an LR4. Where's the oil drain plug?!? Oh wait, it's not there anymore. Where's the dipstick?!?!?! Oops, not there anymore, either.:mad::mad:

Yeepp.Face it guys.Cars are getting less and less accessible to us every model. That's why European union is trying to force a legislature forbidding for independent car shops to fix newest models of cars including LR s,simply because they require very expensive diagnostic equipment and small shops wont be able to afford them leaving most of repairs as guest work.

And I was just getting used to those silly painted fenders....don't think I could ever own a truck that I couldn't change the oil myself. The more I type, the dumber that seems...it's not like they have a dealership on ever corner. That's going to hurt sales globally I'd think.

So oil pan removal required? or 100 quarts of synthetic in there?

Quick question guys, how often do you change your oil?
I had an Mercedes ML430 and I only h ad to change the oil every 15K and I used synthetic.

Do you use synthetic oil in the LR3, I have a 07 SE.

Although there might be a debate how offed one should change the oil,I decided to change mine every 3000to4000 miles since i am doing it myself.i discovered that engine is somehow quieter now than before and I hear that our Jaguar derived engine by Ford was designed to run on conventional oil.I dont see any added benefits having synthetic to our big v8 engines.you might see a difference in smaller engines but as longest you keep track how often you change fluids, you will be fine with regular 5W30 Castrol. That is why I change all my differential fluids earlier than manual requires dealer to do,also T-case oil was replaced at the same time.Did all that at 70.000 miles, not wanted to wait to 75.000 required by book and ...glad i did .DIFF oils were OK with some residue on Plugs, but my t case oil was particularly BLACK and I gona change it one more time after another 10.000 driven, then i will switch to synthetic like i did with diff, oils.Car runs much smoother now,so don't wait with your Diff or T-case oils yo the last minute it might ,literally, save your expensive components.
