95 Disco - the lights are on, but no cranking

Hello all...

Have a 1995 Disco with a new starter (Nov 2007) , new alternator (Dec 2007), new battery (Nov 2008)

Intermittently it simply refuses to crank….the lights are all on with good juice and I hear a “click” but no crank….

One mechanics opinion….oil leaks from bad gaskets getting into starter – wants to replace valley gasket, intake gasket and valve cover gasket – ?

Are all of these necessary?

Is this right on or should I shop around ?

If I were to guess I would say either corrosion at the battery terminals or the fuse box next to the battery.

I would also just check the main connection at the starter...seen them back off just slightly and cause the same issue.
