My 2006 LR3 has an intermitant problem with the ignition. Sometimes when I turn the key to the off position it does not turn the motor off nor does it let me remove the key. Jiggling the key somehow works but it doesn't feel like there is any slop in it. The truck has 24K on it.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

possibly the adjustment between the shift linkage and the ignition key lockout needs to be tweaked?

Is your foot on the brake when it doesn't come out?

Good suggestion.

Yes my foot is on the brake but it doesn't need to be to take the key out. The brake interlock releases so you can shift out of park. Compliments of Audi legislation.

The shift interlock sounds likely.

My key often doesn't come out until I take my foot of the brake and do it again. It's been a while since I've done it actually, I believe that's the scenario. But it sounds like you have a different problem...With what I'm talking about, the engine does turn off.

The thing about this that is odd is that it feels like the key is going back to the 0 position. It just runs and can't be removed. I can't figure out in the 0 position why you wouldn't be able to remove the key.

My wife is driving it in Florida right now and it's making her insane. Her insanity flows downhill.....

I'll pass on the latest because it is so quirky.

Last night it took over 30 minutes for my wife to get the key out. We realized it is only happening in our garage. When we press unlock on the key fob an alarm would go off next door. Turns out there is a failrly large EMT van that parks there. The dealer thinks the EMT might be putting off a frequency that is making the LR3 nuts.

The dealer spent two days and could replicate the problem. Brought the truck home and couldn't get the key out again. It is something to do with some RF or IR interference.

Could be a shot between the eyes for the LR3.

That sounds terrible. I suppose if you really like the truck you could build a Faraday cage into your garage walls.......:)

Does it happen with both keys? And I got the impression it was happening to your wife in Florida, which is not in RF proximity to Boulder CO last I looked....?

Any issues with remote key fob range when you are in your garage?
