just came back from my trip to NH and have a few things to share that i noticed. At speeds like 60 mph and above, I noticed that I had to pretty much constantly keep correcting/adjusting my steering wheel to keep the vehicle straight on its course. Have an appointment with the service to check things out like alignment etc. I had noticed this the very first time I drove my LR3 home after picking up from the dealership. Dealer mentioned something like thats an easy fix and its an adjustment, I wonder what that could be.

The top part of the rear door won't close unless i shut it hard. I am not able to open it up properly either. I have to press the button (that is under the black license plate light cover) twice, once to release the lock and 2nd or third time to be able to open the hatch.

All doors (specially the driver's side one) wont shut properly either unless i shut it with some force, dealer said that the truck is air tight thats why. So i did an experiment, left the passengen side door open and then tried shutting the driver's side door and that certainly helped. Any body else experienced this?

And lastly, sometimes the vehicle will sound a chime but there will be no message or light anywhere and its not the park distance control or the temperature drop sound as i am familiar with those. The chime sounds more like the one when you change a setting (suspension height or transfer case speed) or when a warning comes on, etc.

Last couple of days, i have been noticing a squeeking sound when i apply brakes, is that something normal? I have been very very easy on the brakes ever since i picked up the truck knowing that the brake pads need to seat/bed in.

I love the heavy doors, my Disco II was the same way, except they had a more mechanical sound. The LR3 sounds more like a modern day Mercedes Benz door, which is OK by me.

Had the same problem with our rear hatch. Brought it back to get it adjusted and given the same explanation about the "pressurization" of the vehicle. No big deal really, just a hassle having to open and close(or slam) it twice.

We get that occasional chime for no reason as well. I thought it might have been the PDC, but if your driving down a highway with no one around you and it's not below 4deg celsius(or 39deg F) and a chime goes off, then what's it for...

We did have a problem the first couple of weeks with the memory seats not "memorizing" the seat positions. But that problem has since resovled it's self.

The "check engine" light came on the other day and my wife tried to make an appointment to get it looked at. The explanation the gave my wife was... "our servers are down, and the computer to read the vehicle's computer was not functioning, please try booking an appontment again tomorrow". They also said that if the light is not blinking then it's not a cause for concern.

The light eventually turned off yesterday but will be monitoring it closely.(or as close as I can since I rarely drive it, wife's vehicle)

But just little minor things, still love the vehicle.

I had an ML320 Sport before the LR3, loved that vehicle aswell. But always had problems with the doorhandles. That sound will go away once all the seals are worn out with time and use.

Brake Squeeking

I brought in my 2005 LR3 for because it was making a squeeking sound when I applied the brakes - closer to when I was coming to a complete stop (not at higher speeds). The dealer said that it was an issue with the parking brake mechanism and fixed it. I believe there was some kind of service bulletin about this problem. Makes me think it is more common then one would think otherwise.

Good luck.

(Duplicate response, as posted in another forum)

"I have to press the button (that is under the black license plate light cover) twice, once to release the lock and 2nd or third time to be able to open the hatch."

This is the normal behavior. It's actually "press and hold" to open. If you just tap and release, the safety still holds the hatch in place.

"All doors (specially the driver's side one) wont shut properly either unless I shut it with some force, dealer said that the truck is air tight thats why."

Sorry, the truck is not "air tight" -- that's just a silly comment. But yes, air pressure will make doors harder to close. Again, that's normal... you'll get used to the force required to close the last door. If you still think it's "too hard", compare to another LR3 on the lot for reference and then complain if it's a lot worse.

i was at the dealer for the first oil change yesterday at 1229 miles (2 hours and 45 minutes and around $150 just for the oil change. they washed my car though). So i had the opportunity to check the doors on the floor models. I did notice that the doors on the floor models close rather easily. You just have to push them a little past the "last hold" and the doors would close shut using their own force/momentum. Mine dont. Also, Grommet you are right about the rear door, basically you have to open the rear door immediately after pushing the button using the same pulling force you use for pressing the button in one smooth motion and it works. if you wait for a fraction of a second after pressing the button the safety mechanism kicks in and would require you to push the button again.

Not really happy with the fact that they the service is so backed up that my first available appointment with them is in the forth week of february. And according to them, if i want an LR3 as a loner instead of a rental, i would have to be there at the crack of the dawn to be able to get one as all of their loner LR3s get picked up by their customers very early in the morning.

The doors and hatch on the truck is heavy too and needs a good force to shut. But its not that different from other European cars like BMW & Audi. Amir, did they fix your wheel/steering issue? As for the chimes, have you tried waiting for the car to run its system check before starting up?

Disco3, could the chimes on highway be overspeed warning? And the seat memmory is key specific. So if you set the seats using one key, it won't work when using another key. That's what I found out on my car....

No, I have not had the steering/alignment checked yet. I just got the oil changed. For steering etc., I have an appointment in the forth week of february (thats the earliest i could get from them). And yes I do wait (learned from this forum) for the system check to be finished running before starting up. And its not the speed warning as I know what I have set it to and also if the speed warning chimes, it also displays in the message center.

A couple of other things that I have noticed about the car from day one, or maybe its just me. The outside noise (road/wind) seems to be a little more than what I had experienced while driving the demo LR3s. And same thing with the suspension, feels a bit harsher than the demo ones.

Also, I dont know how should i deal with it, but when i picked up my car I noticed a couple of scratches on the black plastic right above the LCD screen on the radio unit. And a few other minor cosmetic/build quality things that are kinda hard to explain so may be i should post pics of those.

My dealer is kinda intimidating a little and has an answer for every thing so I am just a little reluctant to even bring it up. Ideally, I would want to drive another LR3 (maybe the loaner when i drop mine off for service) to just compare the ride quality etc.
