Accessory bug - got my next accessory to install

I have the short factory rails on my LR3 and am debating about whether or not to buy a set of Thule crossbars or a used set of OEM LR3 crossbars. One of my questions is if Thule or other accessories with attach onto the OEM LR3 crossbars or not. I'm thinking ahead to future ski carriers, canoe or kayak carriers, etc.
