I have a 2003 Range Rover and about a month ago I went out to start it up and it would not start, all the lights and dash came on but no juice, It had been parked for about 5 days. I jumped it off and let it run for a while then shut it off. Went back out about a hour later same issue. Long story short I had the batter tested and it was bad so I replaced it. Since replacing the battery it has been running fine until today, stuck the key in the ignition it wouldn't even turn over, no lights nothing. Jumped it off again and it started up again. Has anyone had this issue before? I am hoping it is not the alternator, seems like that might be the issue. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Sounds like something is draining the battery... bad ground, or something electronic.

charge the battery, remove ground wire and insert either voltmeter or light tester.

Start removing fuses until voltage drops, or light goes out.

Battery Drain

Thanks for your assistance, I really appreciate the feedback. As a lady I have neither of those pieces of equipment you mentioned. You don't think it could be the alternator do you? I just put the new battery in about a month now, can't really think what could be draining the battery. I haven't added anything or changed anything on the vehicle.

Normally the Alternator will not drain a battery (this doesn't mean it can't). What state do you live in, maybe someone can offer assistance or advise of a good mechanic near by.

Battery

I went to have the alternator tested at the local auto parts store and one store came back with no issues went to another store and the results came back with low output and low regulator or something of the sort.

Sadly I am not sure I would trust most Auto Parts stores on the Alternator. Since they can be expensive, but even if it was showing low output... the battery would still charge and would not drain sitting in the driveway.

What could have possibly caused a new battery to go completely dead? I only drive the vehicle on the weekends, I have done all the required maintenance and it has less than 70,000 miles. There were no lights left on, or anything and I have only had this issue once before and that was why I replaced the battery. I guess I will have to take it to the dealership and have a diagnostic run on it or something. I really appreciate the feedback.

My guess would be air pump for the air bags running, alarm possibly having issues, or a random light or switch getting power when it shouldn't.
