My 2011 LR4 has served me well but is in need of replacing. So what is the best model year to target? My understanding is that the 2013 has ‘less” of a timing chain problem - but still needs it done eventually. Do 2014 onwards have ANY timing chain issues? My shop says every MY has similar issues given enough time. I have never driven the V6 so do not know how it compares to the V8. Thoughts on the sweet spot for LR4 model years?

I'm guessing 2013 and 2016 will hold value the best as being the last of the V8s and the last of the LR4, respectively.

My shop says basically the same thing. A lot of it is a matter of oil change intervals as I understand.

The V6 is the V8 with the last two cylinders blocked off and an added supercharger. Less power stock and more moving parts. More speeds in 2014+ transmission. The majority of the 2014+ do not have a two speed transfer case so they are fine to shuttle fido to the dog park but not technical trails.

At this point buy one that looks like it has been cared for. The 2010s are 12 years old now and even the newest are 6...

You should drive the V6. I don't like it but the ZF8 is way better than the ZF6.
We got a second 2013 after the first one got up there in miles.

IMO the V6 are rattle traps with poor harmonics. Just my .02c

2013 because of the motor, the analog/digital ratio the vehicle has and then 2016 Landmark simply because it is the swan song for the model. The comical thing about all this that both in 2013 and in 2016 nobody wanted them and dealers were discounting dramatically to clear them off the lots... now people searching them out and paying nearly sticker in some cases for 2016 Landmark. Same happened with the Defender when it was discontinued. Look at the old ones now.
