Im Looking At Buying A 2000 Land Rover Discovery Ii. Its Got A Clean Car Fax And Was Traded In At A Local Dealership At Which I Am Good Friends With The Owner. Its A Two Owner With 125k Miles On It And Its Completelty Stock. Check Engine Light Is On And The Lady Who Traded It Said It Needed A $175 Part But Couldnt Remember The Name Of It. It Runs And Drives Fine Though. They Are Wanting $6800 For It. Ive Owned Alot Of Cars But Ive Never Owned A Land Rover. Its Going To Be A Daily Driver And I Need It To Be Dependable. Any Help On Anything To Look At When Buying Would Greatly Be Appreciated. Thanks For Your Time

I bought a 2000 Disco II a few months back with about 74k miles. Although I've put about $1,400 into for repairs and it still could use a few more, I'd say it's a rather great truck, considering. That $175 pending repair is likely something quite common. We on this forum are quite familiar with the error codes given when the Service Engine Light is on - so find out what those codes are and let us know. (Your local Auto Zone will tell you for free)

You'll get quick response and feedback.

How does it drive? Any funny sounds or engine ticks / nocks? All functions working? ie: cruise control, key fob, washers, alarm, windows, sun roof's, lights, seat heaters, etc etc etc? Have you noticed any signs of leaking coolant, engine oil or trans fluid?

Owning a LR is an experience, to say the least. Welcome to the family...

Cheers,
JG
