One of the mounting tabs of the lower compressor cover cracked. I tacked it back with cyanoacrylate, then reinforced with a swatch of fiberglass and epoxy. Letting it cure then I'll smooth out the edges. Plenty of time while I wait for the new bracket to arrive, due the 24th. I need to find a better way of jacking it. My floor jack doesn't have the range necessary. Looking at getting either a double ram high lift bottle jack, or one of the unijack stands.

I also took the dehydrator apart and found a fair bit of fine dust between the cover and the filter, so happy that I'm refreshing that bit. Wondering if I should take the central valve block apart for a preemptive cleaning.

Dryer rebuilt, new bracket attached. Went with the cheap Amazon bracket, and it's 90% correct. The hole for the m6x1 bolt for the cover was too big, so I tapped it for an m8x1.25 bolt I had lying around. Tomorrow I reinstall it all and hope it works!

And it's back together, boy is that top bolt a bear to install. Started it up and could hear the compressor running for a while, quiet as before. No warnings on the dash.

Great work on what you have done with your Hitachi refurb and reinstall with enhanced cover. I have come in late here however fully recommend staying with the Hitachi. For your future knowledge I had the 70 amp compressor fuse start failing randomly so ended up buying a new Dunlop replacement from Craddock in UK (I am in Perth, Australia) for much less price than upgrading to an AMK. That was in 2020 when the car was 11 years old and had done 140,000 klms. I have had no problem with the Dunlop , 20,000klms later and have now brought a compressor overhaul kit with new end cover and am currently overhauling the original. As my fault was a causing an electrical failure I invested in a DC tong tester to check running amps. I found normal running was around 40 amps and this would slowly increase to around 54 amps over the day of vehicle running. Fuse would fail after about 3 weeks. Once new Dunlop compressor fitted, running amps was down to 24 amps (see photo). It took 4 mins 37 secs to recharge the system and cut out from initial commissioning. Have also added photo of new compressor installation showing additional SS air connections used to facilitate easy change out in future. I would be interested in any feedback of running amps of overhauled Hitachi compressors. Cheers H
