My 1997 NAS D90 wagon sat unused for eight months while I was away. When I returned it ran and idled fine with a jump start, but the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I went to Autozone but they said they didn't have a battery for it. Took it to a local independent repair shop that works with Land Rovers and they put in a larger "commercial" battery. Now it starts fine but won't idle. I have to hold the brake and use some throttle or it will stall at traffic lights. Could this be due to an improper battery type? If not can I adjust the idle myself?

I put some fuel injector cleaner in with a tank of gas, but that didn't help.

Clean the Idle Air Control and the Throttle Position Switch.

Also, check/clean the carbon fron the idle control unit" IAC " and if it is still off, then have a mechanic reset the adjustment between the IAC and the ECU using a specific shop scanner.
