Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your time in sharing advice regarding this issue.

We have an 06 LR3. It has 195K miles and has been a great vehicle. A few days ago, upon starting the engine, it illuminated nearly every light on the dash. No recent repairs, mods, or computer resets/updates have been performed. (Last driven a few days earlier, it ran great.)

When started, the Vehicle lowered to access mode, "F" on the gear selector, Engine light on, Suspension light on, Tach works...speedo does NOT. Parking brake light illuminated. Might be more...

Steps taken so far:
1 - I laughed out loud, got in another car and ran my errand :)
2 - Plugged in the Gap IID tool and pulled the fault codes - reset them and they returned immediately.
3 - The battery was on the old side and measured below the necessary 12.51v, so replaced it with a good, Interstate ABM battery. Started it up...same deal.

From what I've read it sounds like next steps are to look for chewed wires, or an issue with the Communications bus? My understanding is that the comms bus is near the RH footwell? Any help on the location would be great. Is it a matter of funding a bad connection and soldering it, or more of a part replacement situation?

Thanks again for your time and inputs...They are appreciated!

-Paul

If it is not the brake switch the junction box behind the battery can corrode giving sporadic grounding. Check that as well.

Thanks again for the help. Replaced the brake switch yesterday. Good news is that it will be insurance for the future, but regretfully, not the cause.

Then I noticed mouse droppings...

Pulled apart the console to find a big nest in there where the shifter cable dives through the floor but no cut wires. Upon taking your advice on underhood places to look, there are 4/5 wires cut going into the silver box behind the battery (and plastic cover). See the pic. Tough spot to repair. Hopefully I can disconnect the harness on the other end and work on it at the bench.

At least you solved the riddle. Let us know if it clears it all up.

Quick update: There was no easy way to pull the harness out of the car, so I soldered them in place and it went very smoothly. Started her up, suspension resumed normal height, but still showed a check engine light and transmission fault. Cleared the codes and all went back to normal. Drove it to a friend's house about an hour away and back...runs great.

Thanks again for the help!

So sorry to see that. Hope it all works out.
