I've been lurking on this site for a while and am planning to buy a Land Rover soon. I've narrowed it down to a '03-'04 Discovery HSE. I've been to the Stealership at least 5 times looking/test driving the Discovery & the RR. Each time there was at least 1 vehicle on the lot with a dead battery, this last time it was the Discovery we were interested in. My question is this: How much of a problem is this with the Land Rovers? The reason I ask is because my wife will be driving it allot & I would hate for here to get stuck somewhere with a dead battery.

Thanks...
Austin

Strange. Sounds like a dealer with employees who leave the lights on....

Even with all the negative things I've read about Rovers, I've never heard of them being any worse (or better) than other makes re: battery usage.

I agree... Normally a dead battery at the dealer is someone leaving the lights on.

Hey Austin, as you mentioned, if your wife drives it a lot, do not worry to much, your battery never goos flat. I usually replace the batterry every two years with a maintenance free type "DELCO" and had never a problem if the car is used regulary. If the car is not used for two or three weeks, the chances are big that your battery will be drained due to the electrical components which are maintaining a small current flow. So better disconnect the battery leads if docked for a long time. Enjoy your new car

Every 2 years... WOW... I change a battery on average every 5 to 6 years, just don't count my motorcycle I change it every 2 years, just because I don't ride much.
