Hi,

Recently I have noticed my Disco's clutch slipping a little bit on steep hills, I thought I had a couple of months before I needed a new clutch but last night my wife called me to say she was stuck. The car seems to go into gear properly but it goes nowhere, does not seem to engage at all. Could my clutch burn out so completely in such a short time? or could the problem lie elsewhere?

Thanks

Peter

Unless the pressure plate is shot, then yes your clutch is worn out. Remember the clutch is engaged and works unless you press in the clutch peddle...

The other way to check this is: if you can put it in gear with no issues without pressing the clutch, then it needs replaced.

Also remember to use parking brake, because the Transmission can't hold you in place if the clutch is worn out.

Yeah, it sips in and out of gear easily, sounds like it is the clutch so,

Thanks for the reply
