discovery cuts out

my 2.5 tdi discovery cuts out while running then wont restart till after about 5 minutes car has been in to a garage they said it was fuel shut off valve so they replaced it but it still cuts out anybody any idea what the problem is

Could be the fuel pump getting hot and shutting down... or a very clogged fuel filter.

will try them it doesnt have a fuel pump it is fitted with a lift pump is that what you mean

Lift pump, fuel pump.... same thing in my book it gets the fuel from the tank to the engine......

:biggrin: don't take that the wrong way, just trying to help.

fuel pump relays!

There are 2 fuel pump relays under the steering column. They are about 3/4" square, either silver or black.
Replace both and you should fix your problem.
I had the same problem about a month ago.

I have a similar problem on my '98 V8i - particularly when it's hot outside (> 28*C) - has anyone else had/solved this problem?

Lipadi, you say similar problem. If it cuts out/shuts off when real hot out I would say fuel pump.

But why not help by providing more info on what maintenance has been done, mileage, and what the exact issues are.
