EDIT: T52 is not the Torx size for the exhaust manifold bolts.

It's not a special torx size as I recall. I had the socket size in my Harbor Freight Torx set. Are you removing the heads to get to your exhaust manifolds?

If so, good luck! I've done it and it's tedious just to replace my exhaust manifold gaskets. I also found broken bolts, so have some extra exhaust manifold bolts handy.

A size 8 hex bit worked to remove the bolts. I actually ended up just unbolting the collector and pulling the heads with the manifolds attached. Easy peasy. I'm about to pull the engine out (hopefully).

Yup, tedious work but manageable. I took it a step further and retapped all the holes. I should have replaced those oem exhaust manifold bolts with something else since 2 of them were missing the hex head.

Have a 2014 RRS SC v6 and did a head gasket replacement. Removing the cylinder head prior to removing the exhaust manifold as indicated in the repair manual is preferrable when possible, and heat shields can also be removed from the cylinder head when out of the vehicle as well. Tools needed to remove the head bolts are the JLR 303-1653 - 12mm 6 sided (spline or sometimes called ribe) bit socket & 303-1492 alignment sleeve or alternatives are available on Amazon. A Torx-Plus 55 (TP) is the correct tool, just be cautious when using inexpensive sets as they can be slightly undersized and this is one instance where a solid fit is preferrable. When measuring the greatest distance across two opposing splines the JLR tool is 12mm.

After removing the cylinder heads, I soaked the exhaust manifold bolts with penetrating oil overnight and cleaned the bolt heads thoroughly before easily removing with a TP-50.

Both the cylinder head and exhaust manifold bolts utilize Torx-Plus just different sizes TP-55 and TP-50 respectively, and high-quality tools are offered at places like Freedom Racing Link: JLR-303-1653. Less expensive purchase options are available from Amazon such as 1.) JM Tool JLR Alternative 303-1653 & 303-1492. The exhaust manifold tool can also be found at JB Tools: CTA Tools 9260 9MM Ribe Bit Socket.
