I noticed during two recent trailer pulls that my factory plug in receiver piece has been just slightly loose when I go to remove it. I have had the truck new since 2005 and that thing has been solid as a rock with no wiggle at all so this caught me off guard.

The first time I thought maybe I did not insert it up into the the truck good because when I grabbed it and attempted to work it loose it seemed to seat into place and did not move.

Then today I hooked a trailer up and pulled it about 23 miles. Got to work and checked it and again the same thing. I was able to see it move slightly from side to side before it again seem to seat back into place.

I wanted to see if any of you owners have ever noticed any movement on this ? I don't plan to pull anything until I get this corrected. That design while probably very strong has always made me a bit wary.

Maybe that pin that extends from it when you insert it is getting worn. I plan to have the dealer take a look at it in a few weeks when I take it in for my 90k mile service. I doubt that is rebuildable.

I've pulled a 4500 pound camper for about 10,000 miles. My hitch is solid. Get that checked out before you tow again. Nothing good happens when you try to stop a trailer held on only by the chains.

I would agree. Mine has a bit of wiggle as well...

Let me know what the results are.
