Bought my 2006 LR3 HSE just before Thanksgiving, WITH the Factory wood kit that the dealer was supposed to install.

Day of pick up they called me to tell me that the glue used to affix the wood kit has been recalled and they cannot install it until they get the ok.

It's been 10 weeks now and they say that they still don't have the new glue to make it happen.

Anyone else run into this problem?

The dealer has been great to work with, but this seems a little odd. The kit is already paid for, as I got a discount on it via the Ford 'Z plan' as long as I purchased it with the vehicle.

At this point I am not looking to get a refund and look elsewhere, but just wanted to see of anyone else is hearing this same problem.

Thanks

Jeff

Sad, But true. Some of the original Kit had problems with adhesion, fit and color discrepancies and were taken off the market. There is hope however. I did get an E-mail from up the chain last Wednesday telling me that the kit has been reintroduced in LRUK, and probably 2-3 weeks yet to see them U.S.
Hang in There!

I have one of the first 2005 HSE. I took delivery 11/2005. The dealer installed factory wood kit began to lose adhesion about 6 months after installation. Took it to a LR dealer and they told me I had to go to the dealer I bought it from to fix (Huh?). Replacement kit is on backorder since 1/19, I'll keep you posted when it comes in. Takes a couple of weeks to get an appointment at my orginal dealer.

Would love to see pix. Can you post them here, or hit my e-mail addy up?

They don't seem to have pricing on the website. Is this stuff expensive?

Not sure I want to do TOOOOO much wood, as the one I was getting from the dealer was just the radi surround and the 4 vent towers on the front dash.

Defentally Go with the the link posted in the link to the other thread that i started, the woodgrain is far superior to the factory woodgrain...

I wrote the guys at Apsis USA last night and got a response within hours.

They are gonna price out a 3 pc kit for me, similar to what the dealer offers (i.e. the center console and the left and right air vents).

I don't have $1500 to chunk down right now, so I will see what they come up with and post here if anyone else is interested.

Matt, I would be curious as to how easy your install is too.

Thanks all for your help.

FYI

They quoted me $795 plus core charges for the 3 piece kit of the center console and the left and right air vents. Since LR charges $835 for this, it's basically a no brainer.

How difficult is it to install? Do you remove the existing plastic and replace it with the woodgrain, or does it go on top of the OEM dash? I guess I'm asking how much time would it take for a novice to put this thing in, and is there a high possibility of screwing up the existing dash and the new stuff if you don't get it right?
