Hi all,

I got my LR3 back in mid-March, with 98K miles on it (it is an '05). I'm now at 99,830 and when i first turn the car on, I see the dashboard has a "service reminder" countdown. The number started dropping, and is now at -4 miles.

I honestly expected it to ding and tell me what I needed to do. Is there a way to get any more prescriptive guidance? I assume it is for a 100K service.

Do you think this is still necessary since the dealer "checked it out (alwasy dubious I know) at 98K?

thanks

Not sure. I just ignore mine, I just keep track of things myself.

Probably oil change though.

It is typically reset if you get your vehicle serviced at the dealer. You need a computer to reset the service minder.

I would be suspicious that it has not been properly serviced before you purchased it.

Do you have the service records for it, has it had new plugs, belts, etc. When was the last oil change? Was the right oil used?

At a minimum, I would suggest Oil / Filter change, Transfer Case 75k /50k towing. Transmission Fluid 60-75k I highly doubt transmission was done, LR first recommended service is 150k.

You may as well plan on doing the belts, I also did the arms and pulleys. I think that is due at 105k, I think the brake lines too. If dealers turn you off find a good independent in your area, or ask for recommendations on the board.

I use Royal Purple for everything except the Transmission, for that use Lifeguard 6. The dealer supplied oil is OK as well.

It might be worth having it serviced and checked at the dealer they know what to look for, even if you get a list and opt to do some later.
